  • History

  • The present parish church Graz - St. Andrew was the beginning of the 1 7 Century by the Dominicans built from plans by A. Carlone as their new church. The inauguration took place on 29 Held in July 1635. Tm appearance of a late Gothic hall church with three naves season they should be as clearly remember the parish church in which Mr. Lane. However, it has taken more than a century, until the church was with all the altars in a unique baroque style and equipped accordingly. In 1838 the altar was set back to its present location in 1882 and received the neo-baroque marble dining hall with Tabernakelaufbau.

What new art in the old parish church?

New art challenge to think they are initiated and new points of reference in an old, architecturally strong sacred space. Art opens new perspectives unfamiliar and also represents the old stock in a new light.

New art in an old church, during and often in spite of a certain habituation phase with an aesthetic and safety incidents. The vitality of the faith of individuals and an entire community is being requested. Anyone who lives, is composed of new and unusual. This openness is not always easy to live, however, brings a high return on humanity and spiritual maturity. Through the model case of art can be open to learn each other.

I thank all those who have the adventure of this journey to an actual encounter involved with contemporary art. I am grateful for the courage and the patience of many people in the parish of St. Andrew. Art opens doors. And the doors of St. Andrew will continue to consciously open.
